From October 15 to 19, 2024, the Fakuma International Trade Fair for Plastics Processing took place in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Rianlon's European team made an impressive appearance at the event, showcasing a full range of antioxidants, light stabilizers, and comprehensive anti-aging and weather-resistant solutions for the plastics industry. At the highly anticipated Fakuma trade show forum, Rianlon’s Senior International Application Technology Engineer, Mr. Yiran Wang, delivered an impressive technical presentation on UV stabilization formulations for outdoor products and the challenges of plastic aging. Yiran emphasized the growing importance of plastic durability in long-term applications such as the automotive and construction industries, addressing plastic aging has become a significant challenge. In response to three common aging issues, he proposed efficient solutions and recommended several of Rianlon’s star products.

1. Balancing Short-term Performance and Long-term Stability

Yiran began by discussing the challenge of balancing short-term performance with long-term stability in plastic materials. Often, the focus on short-term performance leads to overlooking long-term durability. To address this, Rianlon introduced the U-pack® UV-7304 formulation, which provides swift and comprehensive protection in the early stages while ensuring long-term durability, effectively solving this critical challenge.

2. Preventing Side Reactions in Alkaline HALS Products

Yiran addressed the issue of side reactions between alkaline HALS (hindered amine light stabilizers) and acidic substances. He introduced U-pack® UV-8165, an innovative solution designed to prevent these side reactions in flame-retardant systems, ensuring stable performance in acidic environments.

3. Solving the Conflict Between Color Stability and Performance

Yiran highlighted the conflict between maintaining color stability and ensuring material performance. During production and processing, high-dose additives can sometimes lead to material discoloration or gas-fading discoloration caused by nitrogen oxides in the air. To address the this, Yiran recommended U-pack® UV-8161, a high-efficiency, low-color formulation that not only significantly enhances the material’s weather resistance but also effectively reduces gas-fading, ensuring both optimal appearance and performance.
